To part out or sell as whole

ok, Im seeing if its worth keeping this as a whole bike or parting it out. I bought this '98 t595 a month ago. P/O stated it needed a new ECM and come to find out that wasn't the problem it was the sprag, I got it to run for 5 min now the sprag is fried and needs a new one. I have a total of $1000 into this bike. I would like to at least just break even. I know this needs to go into the for-sale section but depending which route I go will determine parts or bike. I have pictures of it. The fairings have a little rash but still look great everything else beside just the side are great condition.

Or to fix the issue and sell as a running bike. I have the mechanical capability.

Probably cheaper to put another engine in than fix it to be honest

If your intent is to sell it you'll have to decide what you can realize for sale of complete bike in your market area and whether that makes sense with your total investment for original cost plus the repair costs.
At $1000 you will likely make more $$$ breaking it - hate to see a bike die however.

Make sure this does not turn into a sale thread - if anyone asks for parts here it will be deleted.

The most troublesome item on the Gen1 D955i engine is repairing a broken sprag clutch. The clutch itself isn't a problem moreso than on any other motorcycle.

To repair; it requires dropping the engine and splitting the cases, R&R the clutch, new gaskets, reassembly and reinstallation. Not terribly difficult, but time consuming from what I've researched.

If mine fails I am going the 1050 replacement route, which will require a wrecked donor bike. I'll then repair the old engine...for one helluva gocart?

To the point of your question, you'll realize more by parting out in the for sale forum.

probably agree with parting it out.
