This makes no sense to me whatsoever. I have to assume this has something to do with the crazy Michigan laws you talked about that say motorcycles aren't motor vehicles. I'm seriously PO'ed on your behalf.
In any other state it wouldn't matter in the least what insurance you had. Heck, you could have NO insurance and if somebody else hits you they still have to cover the damages. At least the medical damages.
I'm sure a local attorney knows your laws better than I do, but it might be worth a couple more calls. This is just ridiculous.
