Guages Necessary?

Here's another question as I move forward with this streetfighter T595. I have the original guage but would like to simplify and minimalize where I can.

Are there any performance issues in not attaching the instrument cluster other than warning lights, temperature guage etc?

I have been riding without the guage but using a gps for speedo. Bike has a slight burble from off idle that quickly clears. Will definitely hook up the Tuneboy this weekend but wanted to check about the instrument cluster or lack thereof.

Instruments can be completely disconnected without any performance impact

um....Your bike will never know you aren't paying attention to what it is doing.
Gauges are for driver/rider info. Aren't you even curious what your bike is doing? I could see a problem if you decide to sell and can't document how many miles the bike has been ridden.
You said you carried a GPS with you...that's kinda sorta a gauge, no matter how seperated from your dash.
