Tell me about Tuneecu

I keep reading about tunes and have glanced at tuners like the Tuneboy and Tuneecu. However, I was under the impression that these cost $500 - $600 and up. I figured you folks tuning your own bikes must have some dough ($$$$) .

Now I'm understanding Tuneecu is a FREE program and all I would need to purchase is a cable to connect a laptop and I'm good to go? Is this the truth? If so, can someone provide more details and a link(s) to exactly what I will need? Thanks!

www.tuneecu.com the software is free.

there is a manual you can download that gives you a pretty good run through of installing the software and the drivers for the cable, also where to put the tunes.

you need a USB OBD cable for VAG (VW/Audi cars) that uses FTDI drivers. Got all that? Mine was £10............ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TuneECU-OB...item43b109f8b4

and that's it.

or Tuneboy at £400.

I use a crappy old laptop with XP and it worked fine first time. Others seem to have problems with Vista or Windows 7.

Lol my cable should be in my mailbox right now waiting. Got it on ebay for $8.57. Programs is loaded and ready to go. Tunes are downloaded, now I just need to do it. Been getting told about the massive midrange 3 tune, it has me all hyped up. Go to my thread on RPM and GEAR, DSSA955 put the links up in there for all of it.

We have a whole sub-forum dedicated to tuning and much of the content is on TuneECU
