After doing the fork seals last weekend i managed to get a ride in today before the chance of rain.Still need to look into the tune as it runs like a pig under 3000rpm and has a flat spot somewhere over 4k, also is sounding quite tappety which i'm not sure if its needs valve clearances done or something else.

Can you fit the 46 with the stock chain?

I'm looking at this also, except I think mine has become quiter. Was planned for this weekend, but I'm helping my older daughter redo my grand daughter's room.

Its hard to tell with these since they were noisy from the factory which doesnt help with fault diagnoses.
Should get my OBD cable in next few days so i can check what map it has and check for faults, its great when on song but below 3k its not fun at all.

dragon's tail
Ran from Atalanta to the dragon's tail (Deal Gap) and back today! My two riding buddy's and I, Mike has a Daytona 675, and Ricky has a new Ducati 848 EVO, and Me on the 06 Daytona 955i. the weather was more like Fall than August, it was great. its like 350 miles and 150 to 175 miles is all sport ride. I am worn out, even more than a track day . should have pictures in about a week.

Well, in preperation for running the valves the '98 is scattered about the garage. I had a new TB gasket to install also and finished that up tonight. 20 hour days can take their toll and I forgot to remove the paper towels I'd put in the head to keep out any gasket material during removal... you got it, I left the paper towel in and discovered this mis step only after the TBs were fully installed. A hooked pick and the shop vac cleaned the intake tracts out, thank goodness.
Looks like there may've been a small vacuum leak on #2 as the gasket disintegrated just removing the TBs and #3 TB has a stripped screw hole for the rear bracket.

screws are notoriously cheese on those Brad
You may have already done this, but it's a good idea to loosen up the assembly for TB's before bolting to head, to allow them to seat individually properly then tighten the link rails.

Unfortunately it's the threads in the TB that are stripped. The screw will tighten on a couple of threads when there's no rear bracket mounted and swapping screws with the bracket in place proved the screw good. I just wrapped the screw's threads with a couple of layers of Teflon tape 'till I can pick up some epoxy.
The TB's rear bracket assembly was quite loose and the front one unmounted when the TBs were installed. I also checked for any uneven TBs once the gasket surfaces were clean and only #1 was perhaps 1/32" different.
