bsanorton, I favor Pirelli mainly because they don't cause a lot of headshake when riding on grooved pavement. Metzeler and Pirelli are the same company with differing tread patterns.
The '02 ran Pilot Powers, usually the medium temperature track compound, and they were quite good. Downside is they have a short lifespan and do react more riding over the rain grooves.
If the main role is street riding with just a couple of track days thrown in at the beginner or lower intermediate level I'd vote for a street touring tire. The Metzeler Z8 actually beat out my Angel STs in a comparo. An option worth considering, IMHO, as my Angels far exceeded my expectations.

I just picked this up a few weeks ago in trade so I'm going over it with a maintenance check list and thorough cleaning... and swapping wheels, stripping the plastics, mounting a headlight, custom bikini fairing, updated digital clocks, paint... Just some small stuff...

The Imgur album I'm uploading all pics to is HERE
I'll create a thread when I'm done as I'm already documenting the build and progress over HERE.

After picking her up on Saturday and riding 600km home, then riding to work and back for a couple of days, 2 things were becoming obvious. Low speed turn in wasn't quite as crisp as I had expected, and the ride was harsh to the extreme. Front preload was 2 lines, and compression and rebound 0.5 and 1 turn out respectively. Rear compression and preload were 0.5 and 1 turn out also. Tyres (new PR3s) were 30PSI front and rear. Possibly set up for track rather than real road use? Put everything to the MCN settings, and tyres to 34/40 F/R. Rear is a 180/55 on a 6" rim, so I read the 190/55 thread with interest. Looking forward to tomorrow's ride to compare the settings, and will fettle from there. Fun times
