Well I dropped the bike on the left side because of a bad kickstand placement on a slight incline. Gentle drop and almost caught it. Anyway, because I have such long legs I have the controls adjusted pretty far down and when the bike went over it smashed the shifter into the engine some. I didn't notice this till days later when I started experiencing some difficulty in shifting. Upon closer inspection of the linkage I noticed the shift lever was binding up on the shift rod. When I went to bend it outward I noticed the bracket was slightly cracked and made the bending very easy. I've been riding this way for a few hundred miles without any problem but I am concerned about it lasting. I'm quite supprised the shift lever isn't purposely made weaker to bend or break before the bracket. I haven't priced the bracket yet but I imagine it aint cheap!
Anyone else had a similar experience?

There is a factory recall on the bracket for 05 Daytonas. It most likely cracked from normal use and not from dropping the bike. See you dealer for details on getting a new FREE bracket.

$103.50 US is what it cost me for a new one. It finally did break off when I was about 70mi from home. I lucked out and was stuck in 4th gear and only had to make about 4 stops from the mountains to my driveway.
Anyway, I left 3-4 msgs with Peter in warranty at Triumph with no response. I keep leaving my # and the # of the shop where the part was shipped to. Very disappointing! Anyone else have trouble with getting him to respond?
Remember when reinstalling the shift lever bolt that it goes in from the backside.
This all finally got resolved and I'm waiting for reimbursement from my dealer.
Good luck, MH
