Right needs peoples advice on this one.

I recently did a trackday at LLandow in south wales (its a short track about 1 mile long). On the day I found myself always in the top 4 bikes of the fast group - no mean feat for a 95 daytona!!

However I came away from the day determined to replace my bike with a GSXR750 SRAD. The reason for this is that i found two big problems with the daytona.

1. Ground clearance was a major issue, it now looks like someone has taken an angle grinder to my peg. despite hanging off loads and spending the day with my knee planted i still wore away the peg and my toe slider.

2. Acceleration, quite a lot of the time I had people on 600's in my way in the bends but was unable to overtake them on the straights (thus resulting in some interesting overtaking lines). In fact I even struggled just to keep with some of the 600s.

So do i swap bikes or try and make improvements to the daytona - i thought about the ohlins/racetech suspension upgrades but my bikes already set up well and ground clearance is the biggest issue.

All suggestions welcome

unfortunately i can't afford that. I reckon it'll cost me £1000 on top of my daytona to get a gsxr and i just keep thinking of all the things i could do to my bike with that money, i'd end up with a pretty special daytona but would it be as quick as a gixxer.

No. But why do want want a gixer? You might not go as fast on the Triumph but it'll last longer and if you can get it to go fast thats a bigger achievement and much more satisfying.

Try rearsets and then continue to have fun proving that your the better rider by getting the old bus to run rings round guys on quicker bikes who can't ride em.

It sounds like the answer to your problem is you need a sponsor and go into professional racing

I was talking with a salesmen at the Triumph dealship in Denver, Erico Motorsports who said he used to race an '02 955i for a while. His name is Eric Truman. He might be able to shed a bit of light on this subject. The dealership's websight is: www.ericomotorsports.com
