02 955i sprang clutch

Went to start the bike and heard a loud clack then the starter motor just ran no other noise I have been told it likely is the sprang clutch by several people including the dealer. Just left the bike at the dealer today any estimates on how much this should cost. Also is it possilbe to make this a project I can do myself I would consider my mechanical skill at moderate not advanced at all but if it is straight foward I am willing to give it a try.

Sprag clutch $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Never let the batteries on these bikes get low. Always keep on a battery tender. If you do and the battery is low on juice and bike does not fire quickly, the battery gets weaker and the engine then the engine compression kicks the engine back therefore breaking the sprag clutch as it is engaged.
Good luck!

damirage, This is much more easily repaired than for the first gen 955. Buy a Haynes manual.

iconHere you go either $232 or $433. Looks straight forward to replace in the workshop manual.
