strange "coughing" at idle and backfiring

Hey guys,

I have a naked 2000 model Daytona 955i and I'm having some troubles with the idle inparticular.

As I'm idling, the bike seems to "cough" every now and again and the revs drop slightly. When it does this, it makes a "hissing" type noise, similar to the noise you get when letting air out of a tyre.

This idling seems to be linked to backfiring on deceleration.

It has been backfiring more often lately, and subsequently idling worse.

Does anyone have any ideas what it might be?

Tuning? Mixtures?

Thanks,

Mat

Mat, Offhand it reads like a vacuum leak. Maybe a leaky IACM hose or TB boot.

I'll bet once you look at the hoses from the throttle body to the IACV they are rotted away and disconnected - like mine were when I had the exact same issues.

Awesome! I'll have a go at that.

What do I have to do to get to them? Tank off?

Has anyone got a photo of them?
