From T3 to T595 or 955i ? To do or not to do?

I am currently deliberating over whether or not to upgrade my bike to one of the later machines.

Why I love my T3.
Reliable, heavy, big. Comfortable after moving bars on top of yokes.
Why I dont love it.
Heavy, Not that quick. I do love the bike, but its a love hate relationship, teetering over the performance of the machine..

What do you guys think about going to a 595 or 955i and moving the bars for touring comfort. I dont like the look of the ST, dont mind the RS though.

Also it appears as if the T595 is quicker than the 955i? Is that true?

Perhaps what I need is an older mint 1200? As I do enjoy the size.. but then again, the weight and the handling is obviously a problem.

I am big guy, not huge.. but the bigger bikes suit my size, but perhaps not my riding style.

I am totally stuck over this decision. I need more performance, but I dont want to loose my touring comfort. And I dont like the RS or ST as much as I love the look of ALL the Daytonas.

Arcch...sorry about this thread LOL :-)

I am also a some what larger ( should I say Fat ) gentleman, and I absolutly LOVE my 955i, Have no problem with the stock seating and clip-ons for 400 mile days, that said I also have a 955 Sprint for my longer touring days ( my riding friends and I also like those 700 to 800 mile days). Just today had a friend which was my favorite bike told him the Daytona, he then asked if I could only have one, told him the Sprint !! Guess I am not helping you much !

Well the best motors are definitely the 02+ - however the body style of the 97-01 is nicer in my own opinion.
I think if you want to stay within the 97-01 style package, I would definitely recommend to go with an 00-01, which have better fueling control system with the later MC1000 ECM.
There are problematic electrical issues & potential transmission issues on the T595's; the 00-01 are pretty well sorted.

Riding positon

I don't know if it's any help, but my situation has caused me to do the following. I absolutely LOVE the 98 T595 / 955i that I have. I am older and my body hates the riding position of the Daytona. I grew up on sportbikes and MX riding, but my back has forced me onto a cruiser for the last few years. My Daytona got forced into being a speed triple recently, but the insurance company had to replace all of my bodywork and accessories. The S3 riding position is wonderful and it suits me perfectly. However I have the option of throwing the clip ons and the bodywork back on, {an hour or two at most} if I want to go and shred with the boys on the track or in the hills!
It's all pretty new to me, the wind is kinda fun actually. I feel so comfortable with the taller bars that I'm not sure I couldn't hang with my buddies sitting up straight.
You'd have to start out with a solid bike, sounds like a '00 ???
After that get the tall bar kit, headlight kit, mirrors and blinkers {if ya need um} . You can swap back and forth when you so desire!!!
Thats what I'm gonna do!!!!!!!

Phpbiker,

I suggest that you take a look at the April issue of "Visor Down" which has a pretty complete review of the T595. It may help you make your decision. Also sit on one at some dealer to help access your comfort level.

for transmission problems what I heard there are problems sometimes with the forth gear, but I didn't had those problems on mine... however I also heard that there were some changes in exhaust system... the first Daytonas vere like prototypes, I'd definatelly go for 00-01 955i

didn't hear anything about t595 being stronger than 955, but you can find more Triumph experienced people than me in here

Have you considered a 1050 Tiger? All the performance you could wish for, and a top tourer as well!
