Carbon Muffler Repack?

Can you repack these? if so how do you do it, and where do you get the packing?

This is the on my bike has on it.

Any shop should have repack kits... alternatively you can use the regular pink stuff, it just will need repacked sooner.

Basically you just need to remove the canister (at the midpipe connection, not the tip), if rivets drill them out. Pull out whatever is left, and rewrap the perforated core with as much fiberglass packing you can get to fit... tie it up with safety wire, stuff it back in the canister and put it all back together.

Google it, some dirt bike forums will have some more detailed instructions, and if you don't feel comfortable a shop can do it for you.

mrjonesjr8, The allen screws retaining the end cap are spot welded. You'll have to grind and possibly drill the heads off. I have the same TOR can on my '98, it's pretty well blown out and going to stay that way.

once you get the end plate unscrewed, there is an end cap that is welded on. You would have to grind off those spots to repack. Once finished it would have to be welded back on. Not impossible, but certainly harder than most.
