Cylinder Head Bolt Tool

I am about to replace the head on my 955i post plug repair and need a "Torque Turn" tool - I understand what it does, but can anyone supply details of a tool manufacturer who can supply and what the proper name is (in the UK pref). I have downloaded a Britool cat and can see nothing that meets the description.

Although the manual doesn't spell it out, I am assuming that when using this tool each bolt is rotated 10 deg at time (and not the full 90 deg in one go) in the same pattern as removal - could anyone confirm please.

many thanks

JTBSS, The proper name is an Angular Torque Gauge. Take a look here:

I believe it is a single operation of 90 deg for the third phase.
Although technically correct to use a degree disc, I think reasonably easy to estimate 90 deg based on the orientation of the handle.

JTBSS, Have you already pulled the head? If not there's a new professional tool, I think from Snap On that will install a helicoil with the head still attached. I know of a 4.6 Mustang and a Kawasaki 636 that have had this repair. It's PFM to me, but worth checking the shops in your area. Sorry, I missed that one part in the post.

Hi,

thanks - got the tool at a local Halfords store.

Brad - head removed and plug drilled out from both ends as the plug had seized about 25-30 thou before bottoming therefore sealing ring not crushed. How this has happened is a mystery as first time out since Triumph build - 3 years and 11K miles - will remove and copperslip annually now. Never had any problem with a sprint over 30K miles.

Thread perfectly serviceable - ran a tap run through it just to be sure but now material removed.

Good job done by P&M in London.
