Laurie, If the bike is lowered there's a possibility that you'll fit, with it's wide saddle the standstill footing could be iffy. Handlebar reach can be helped with aftermarket bars.
The '97 T595 does have a PIA known problem, 4th gear failure. While it was a low percentage of production that have failed Triumph redesigned 4th gear. Ask the owner if it's been repaired.
Basically I'm suggesting that this may not be the bike for you. Offhand a RC51 has a very similar riding position.

I have both 99's and a 02 Daytona. My advice is, if you are a good rider get riser bars and you will love the bike if not it is a long way to the clip ons. Good luck Hap

You may also want to post up here at Daytona Deliberations. The gang will get you going on the right path.
I had an '05 955i and loved it. The triple engine is like no other on the market and provides plenty of power. Older Daytona's had some electrical issues but are rock solid dependable bikes. Try the link above for lowering links. You can also drop the forks a little bit, but if you go too much you change how the bike handles. Helibars are great products and made the bike a lot easier to ride. You can also get the seat re-stuffed and get it a bit lower there too. If you can reach the ground with one foot, that's all you need.

Considering this thread is about a big Daytona, and we are all about the little ones, you will probably get more information once it has moved to the right forum. Which I will do now...

You'll love the bike. Just check for a service history and ask about electrical issues. Best engine ever made. GEt it and ride it for a couple years. Maybe Triumph will shock the world with a new big one soon.

Two threads merged after move from 675 forum - so the opening posts may have some duplicity.
