Any Choke on the '98 Daytona, starting instructions?

seems really hard to crank 1st time? just put in a brand new battery but, still really slow in turning, or just starting instructions

There is no choke. Key the ignition and you'll hear a click. That's the fuel pump coming on to pressurize the injection system, runs about 4-5 seconds. For the next minute, do NOT touch the throttle. Press the start button for a few seconds. If it doesn't catch, let it sit a few seconds and try again. Again, even after it initially starts, don't touch the throttle. After it warms up for a minute or so you're free to go.

If all of this fails you probably have some fine, aged gasohol in your tank that is full of water. This one recently bit me by putting a half gallon in the bike from the yard can (the gas was only three months old and already bad). A healthy dose of HEET fuel treatment and three fresh gallons was the only way I could get her going. After that I had to burn through the entire tank to get rid of it.

Thanks for that info Wally, I had been twisting the throttle to much i'm sure.

Yes, leave throttle alone while starting (holds good for nearly all Fuel Injected bikes)
