Disconnected gas line for tank R&I, lots of fuel coming out????
Hey, So maybe I'm confused but how much fuel should come out of the hose after disconnecting from the tank??? I filled a 2L pepsi bottle and it kept on coming? The female side everyone seems to have leaking issue with is just fine, its the male side thats spewing fuel everywhere. How much fuel could be in there? Is this normal?

I only have experience with my D12 which has vacuum fed gas. This means that so long as the petcock is in "On" or "Reserve" positions, gas will not flow when the fuel lines are detached from the tank. However, if you have the petcock in the "Prime" position, gas is then gravity fed and can run out of the tank. If you have a similar system on your model Triumph (I assume it is a 955i), check to see that you have the petcock in either "On" or "Reserve" - if gas thereafter continues to run out of the tank, I can only conjecture that your petcock is malfunctioning.

Thanks for the reply but we have a different setup. But I did figure it out. The upper hose will spit gas out as long as the lower is connected. Unclip it and gas will leak directly from the tank if your lucky enought to have a broken fitting on the bottom like me. Now to drain the whole tank

I was getting ready to answer that until I reached the bottom of thread - sorry I didn't get to this earlier, but looks like you figured it out pretty quick

thanks DEcosse! Yeah when all else failed I decided to actually think about how the fuel system works instead of assuming I had a magic hose that could hold a gallon+. but I do have a question you might be able to help with, is there a quicker way to drain the tank? Holding the top hose over a funnel while a tiny line drains takes forever and then some. I wish I had another male fitting to turn into a plug but I don't have one so draining is my only option at the moment.

Siphon
You can suck on the tube the old-school way, or get a rubber-ball type squeeze pump (like fish tank accessory)
Like this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SIPHO...item2ea704fff9
(you can probably buy at AutoParts store if in a hurry - or maybe pet store!)

I've already bled a 2 liter pepsi bottle + about 2 more galons the painful way of holding the hose over a funnel into a gas can. I didn't rinse the pepsi bottle first so that gas is going to my ancient lawn mower and not the bike. I can reuse the stuff in the gas can. There couldn't be that much more fuel in the tank. I'm wondering if I cant just disconnect the lines, lift and tilt it to the left immediately. With not much left it shouldn't drip out of the lower female fitting that isn't sealing. I'll figure it out. once it out, time to inspect everything I cant see with it in, hook up the power commander, reinstall the tank, flush the coolant and if theres time, go for a test ride.

When I was looking on EBay to see what they had, I went ahead & bought one for $8 shipped!
Done the 'suck' thing too many times - don't need it right now, but if you don't buy when you don't need it, you're not going to have it when you do!
