Cylinder Head Removal - 2007 955i

Although the manual says that it is extremely difficult too - has anyone successfully removed and replaced a cylinder head with the motor still in the frame?? Need to surgically remove a spark plug which is a bit of a pi%%er but there you go.

Welcome to T'Rat.net.

Bike must be an '06 right?
There is no 07 model - presumably you registered in '07.

By the time you remove fairings & tank, airbox, drain the coolant and get the headers off, you would be as well dropping the motor at that point - seriously.
It can be done in-situ if need be.

However, I suppose you've already done all the EZ-Out tricks?
Soak it for 24 hrs in copious amounts of PB-Blaster before you attempt the removal process - use a quality EZ-Out - a cheapy that breaks off will give you a lot more problems than the original spark plug.

I couldn't agree more. IF and I capitalize, IF- you save any time at all, you will bury yourself with other burdens, like the limited mobility of the frame spars, clearance, lighting, lower back pain from arching over the bike.

Dropping a motor is a one man job that takes less than 2 hours of casual time.

Installing, I would recommend someone to help push bolts through.

Overall, I would suggest labeling connections, using 2 coffee cans (one for left side, one for right) to hold the nuts and bolts, and a little patience.

It will be so easy to get things sorted with the motor out and free.
