D1200 carb pods

The D12 airbox is difficult to get to. I have a K&N filter and a Dynojet kit, but I'm thinking of going to K&N pods or uni filter so I can have easier access to clean the filters.

Has anyone done this? Did you have to rejet? Did the induction sound become obnoxious, or maybe just sound better? Do pods do a good enough job of keeping dirt, sand etc. out of the engine compared to the air box filter? Is pereformance compromised in any way?

The following web link shows a dyno chart, and pictures, for a Trophy 900 with dynojet kit and uni filters. Good gains across the board - mostly from the dynojet kit I'm sure.

Here is the K&N web site showing pods for the D12. I think I would prefer the K&N to the uni filter, but maybe someone can give me their opinion or experience. If you click the part number RU-2780 you will bring up the spec sheet.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx Well, I can't get the K&N link to go directly to the pod page. You will have to put in the info: Triumph model and year to get to the correct page OR just enter in the part number RU-2780.

I did similar

I had a 2004 T-Bird Sport, which has what must be the worst air intake system ever devised by man. I put K&N pods on it (after removing the stock airbox monstrosity) and it was so lean, it took five or six jet size increases to get it right. It transformed the engine, much better power AND improved gas mileage, well worth the effort. Those pods are expensive, brace yourself.

i would go with the K&Ns....i dont have the stock carb setup anymore as i have switched to mikuni flatslides, but all i can say is yes you will have and to rejet and you will see power!!! the carb wont sound loud at all, to me they sound really cool when u hear the air intake
