Congratulations and welcome
Hi Jack,
That is a very nice bike you have scored for yourself there, and rare with such a low mileage.
Welcome to TriumphRat.net
Enjoy the forums.
cheers

It's a beautiful bike Jack. Welcome to Triumphrat.
Do I understand correctly, this is your very first motorcycle? It is a powerful model to start on. So please take your time learning the ropes and I'm talking months. Ride conservatively and try to avoid a lot of traffic until you become more accomplished. Don't forget to wear good protective gear - helmet, gloves, boots and armored protective jacket and pants. If I am not wearing my armored leather pants, I use Forcefield body armour under my jeans. There are other good brands too, but I have found Forcefield to be very comfortable. Too many motorcyclists spend all their money on the motorcycle and then skimp on protecting themselves. Even then, I am sure you understand cycling it inherently risky. Just today I learned that Doddledog has had a very serious accident (his post is just under yours and shows how fast accidents can happen). Not trying to be a kill-joy, just want a new rider to be safe.
This is the Forcefield website, but you can google it to find best prices.

Enjoy yourself and be safe.

Thanks! I know, I couldn't have found a better deal anywhere. I love it. Hey, as a moderator do you know anybody in the dc owner that may also be a mod/owner of this forum? maybe somebody who is also a partial owner of our local dc triumph dealer Clinton Cycles? I ask as I'm owner #3. From the brief history I got from the seller, the original owner of the bike was both.

Yes, this is bike #1 for me. I know, it scares me too. which i think is a good thing. I'm avoiding traffic as best I can. Thanks for the heads up on forcefield. I'll check it out. Right now I'm wearing a joe rocket fiberglass full face helmet, joe rocket supermoto jacket (leather w/ tons of armor), fieldsheer leather gloves w/ cf armor on the knuckles, over ankle boots and jeans. the jeans alone are the weakest link. But yes, I went and took the safety course, I'm legally licensed. I own my bike outright and its fully insured w/ collision/comp/etc. I tried to do everything 100% and not cut any corners. I've been into various clubs w/ my cars over the years, I'be built some very fast cars and do all the wrenching in my driveway with my own tools. I just needed a change so I decided to get a bike. But yes, I'm being safe and taking to very slow. Honestly I dont know how some of you guys do 140mph, I hit 60 for the first time a couple nights ago and it felt like warp speed to me.

O, and last night I was riding toward and intersection w/ right of way, another oncoming car decided to make a left turn in front of me and stop in the middle of my lane. I did everything I learned and swerved out of the way, straightened the handle bars and hit the brakes. To my surprise I didnt put any thougtt into it at all, just reflex. But its definitely amazing how quick it can happen.
