Throwover panniers

Hello All
Does anyone have experience of using throwover panniers with a Triumph high mount pipe?. Several people make slimline throwovers for sportsbikes, some of which look like they would probably clear the silencer, but it's hard to tell. The Triumph ones look like they might be a bit too tall. Grateful for any feedback.

These are Oxford Humpbacks with the standard location pipe. I have a set of Cortech Sports I use on my new bikes and I'm sure they'd work great.

Thanks Brooksie, always helpful to see a picture. Your Oxford panniers look like they might be a bit close with a high pipe, the Cortech panniers are on my list as a possible, also Fieldsheer make some that look like they might work.

Yeah, you may want to get these with that high boy: http://www.ventura-bike.com/fitments.aspx?manu=Triumph You're lucky you have a 955. I've had dozens of bikes and it was by far my favorite. 675 is great for what it is, but I miss that torquey big triple.

I was hoping to get away with just throwovers and a tank bag, but I can see me wanting to do more and more long trips with it so something to strap stuff to is probably the way to go. I thought that my partner wouldn't be comfortable enough, but she says it's more comfortable than my CBX1000 with a handmade leather seat. Then again, she's five foot nothing so would be more comfortable than most on the back of a modern sportsbike. I couldn't agree more about being lucky to have the 955. I had several sports bikes through the nineties and got to ride many more, I haven't ridden the latest generation of litre sportsbikes, but the Daytona is plenty quick enough, and so well mannered, I can't imagine going Jap again in a hurry. I got a great deal on it too, it's a black 03 and only had 2000 very careful miles ( original tyres, no wear anywhere near the edges and no flat on the rear ), all stock apart from a Triumph high carbon can and remapping. I got the bug for the triple howl with my Trident many years ago and there's nothing quite like it.
I'll try not to feel too sorry for your missing the big torquey triple being as your other bike is a Duke

Hi,

I have the Kriega setup and find that they ride quite high. They might be out of reach of a high mount pipe....?!

On here is Kriega 2 x US10 and 1 x US20 and an Oxford Tank Bag.

Hope this helps...

If you pack a bag under the throw-overs they not only ride higher but they are supported better by the tail. But I still want to eventually build a frame work to support them.

Good suggestion, but most of my luggage miles will be with the Mrs. I think I'm going to get some throwovers and then make a frame that I can strap a small bag to immediately behind the passenger, which doubles up as a guard to keep the panniers from getting too close to the exhaust.

yeah I understand. I kinda want the same kind of setup. I have a picture of just such a rack on a Guzzi. I sent an email to the owner to see if I can find out more. I will keep you posted.
