can anybody comfirm ?

my ride home from work was good until i could here a ticking (sounded like a card on a spoke of a push bike)
then it got louder and louder .
so i pulled over and knocked into neutral and all was ok.
got back on put in gear a soon as clutch came out there was this horrid banging and it kept wanting to stall.
lucky for me i was only 2 mins from home.

im guessing its not good news and maybe knackard gears

He said it was OK in neutral...doesn't sound like a rod bearing to me.

sounds to me like you have a leak in your exhaust. check to make sure your exhaust is tightly in place. when the bike first is started up, there will be leaks but as the bike warms up the metal expands to seal it.

Since you mentioned that it only ticks when in gear, im guessing that its your headers that arent tightend at the bolts enough. you may have to remove fairings to get to all the bolts, make sure they are tightened (be sure that your bike is cold or you will burn yourself lol)

try that, maybe this could solve that ticking problem

Hi mate thanks for your info
the bike is in the garage now ,and they have confirmed thats it the Big End that has gone.

at the end of the day its down to them as i only got the bike 2 1/2 months ago.

The only thing that really bothering me is they have lent me a bandit 1200 and i hate it , how this bike is road legal i do not know it shakes BAD when in 1st gear , mirrors wobble all over the place, its a mess, and it just a horrid bike to ride. Only one good thing is the grunt but even that runs out quick.

I miss my TONI ...............sorry guys was having a bit of a moment there

ok up date on my toni

Big end has gone along with the pistons also the casing had disintegrated not sure what they mean bi the casing but hay thats what they said.
so the engine has gone back to triumph for a rebuild.
Question?
what happens now?
dose this mean my engine will be like a new one?
will it still be at 33000 miles ?

I guess the previous owner had way to much fun on it

so i now have another 6 week without her riding a knackard 1200 bandit

Look at the bright side, it's being fixed for free and you have the perfect winter bike.

Exactly right Brad.

Can't be sure that a "rebuild" means exactly the same thing on your side of the pond. However, over here per www.doityourself.com :

you get a "like new" engine that has been completely remanufactured from the block up. In addition to using many new components, the block, crankshaft and other durable parts are cleaned and remachined to original factory specifications.
Typical new components:
■Gaskets

■Piston rings
■Lifters
■Camshaft
■Oil pump
■Timing chain, gears, belt
■Connecting rod bearings
■Main bearings Pistons
■Valve train components

Typical remachined components:
■Valves
■Valve seats
■Connecting rods
■Crankshaft
In addition, you often get:
■New spark plugs
■New air filter
■New water pump
■New hoses and belts
■New motor mounts
■Oil change and filter
■New thermostat
■New anti-freeze
■New fuel filter

However, it is best to ask your dealer exactly what they mean. Possibly only broken parts are being replaced and the rest left as is -not really a "rebuild".

Dont get me wrong the bandit is an ok bike Once you get it going.
It just hates start ups even with choke on full, just keeps stalling untill u have been out on it for 10mins , mirrors are really lose (have tried to tighten)
