I have a problem with the rear brake fading when hot from agressive riding on 04 d955. I an an old enduro rider & have the habit from dirt bikes of using rear brake to scruibb speed & control throtte during cornering & on the corner exit. My RC51 is not effected by this but the
Daytona rear brakes goes away in 30 minutes or so.
THe rotor is not out in the air being tucked in the wheel & may not be cooling correctly. ??? maybe better pads ??
Different brake fluid?? or just adjust riding style.
CL. :???:

I didn't even know my Daytona had a rear brake, I kept pushing the pedal and nothing happened. No really, the rear brake is useless....John

No rear brake is an understated !!!!! It has very poor feel & feedback. Goes from hardly working to locked up with no real feedback. I don't need much as I only really use it to smooth out power delivery & scrubb a little mid corner speed. This one goes to mush, pedal moves 2 inches after fluid boils, quite the reverse from the hard no feel. It's not a big deal but I'd like to fix it none the less.
CL
p.s love the bike other than that & the lean idle, will fix that with tuneboy.

It's a heavy bike with a weak system. Call Brembo and throw 1K on a rear master cylinder. I suspect that if you found a bigger brake fluid reservior, you may be able to keep it cooler longer.

First, I would check make sure the caliper is working properly...pistons clean and returning evenly. Then I would put new pads is...worn out, thinner pads are going to transfer more heat to the fluid. Make sure the slide pin is clean and smooth and not binding on the pads.

Make sure the pedal, in its resting position is not dragging the brakes.

Make sure that your foot, in its resting position is also not dragging the brakes.

I have had no problems with my brakes. I do use the rear and it can be used effectively as you described. On the track, I rarely use the rear brake, but often do on the road.
