Just picked her up today, and noticed a few probs. The temp gage doesn't seem to go up very high, and it's light doesn't work. How high should the needle rise after about a half hour ride in 100+ degree heat(AZ is getting toasty). Should the fans be staying on for a minute after I turn off the bike? (bear with me, all ove my other bikes have been air cooled)where can I get a replacement flag for fairing? And here's a dumb question... how do I take the seat off? What's a good place to get Parts???

Hey congrats on the 1200. I had an 85 1200 as my first triumph. First yes the fan should keep running after you shut her down, As for temp. readings I dont really remember what mine ran at but if it's any help and I doubt it is my 05 Daytona runs usually around 210. As for a great source for parts I have had great luck with Team Triumph out of WI.

Got a websight? for Team Triumph?? this is my second "will not ever sell" bike...and both are named Daytona. ***** I love the seamles power this thing puts out. I'm going to be the third owner at 20,000 miles and have to keep her on the road. Also noticed that the front brake was spongy, but I've written tech articals about that (moto Guzzi). New Question... where is the radiator cap???

At 100 degrees ambient the needle should be running a little better than halfway through the range on the guage. Take the fairing inserts off the bike and look for the wires that come out of the back of the temp guage. They may not be hooked up. In that heat the fan should run for a short bit after you turn it off.
While you have the inserts off, the radiator cap is under the insert on the left side.
The seat, the seat lock is above the left passenger peg. Insert the key, turn it and the seat should pop up.

I have also done some dealing with Team Triumph. Todd is a great guy.
Team Triumph

Other places I have had good luck getting parts is SouthBay Triumph and GreatBay Triumph.

SouthBay

There's a lock on the left side by the passenger peg that unlocks the seat. My S3 had spongy brakes also, so I removed the calipers, and using a thin piece of stock in between the caliper pistons (to prevent the pistons from coming out of their bores), pumped the brake lever until the pistons came out far enough to be able to clean the grunge off the sides of the pistons. Problem solved. Radiator cap is buried under all that fairing! Aint you got a manual?? :???: :-D

The dealer may still be able to get them, not sure....A little pricey regardless, but Haynes may have manuals as an alternative?
