DSSA rear spindle nut size

Can anybody tell me what the correct socket size is for the rear wheel spindle nut on an '02 DSSA 955i Daytona please?

I think I've been using a 28mm socket, but it feels loose, and when I've measured the nut it's about 27.2mm across the flats which is an unusual size (M18?).

Is the Triumph toolkit supposed to come with a spanner for the rear wheel nut?

Mine is a perfect 27mm socket fit. Your nut is not burred at all perhaps. Using inferior quality sockets can make a difference also with some of them being out by a millimetre or more.I lashed out on a good " SnapOn " brand socket set and they are truly beautiful things to use. Cost a fortune but will be passed down to my Son when i depart this life

Thanks NEV1050, I bought a 27mm socket on the way home and it was spot on

I noticed that the rubber guide to protect the swinging arm from the chain is shredded to nothing though. Can they be replaced easily?

Red, not sure about the wear guard as i have not replaced mine yet. Could not be too difficult i think. Depends how much a new one sells for and i imagine you could get them easily enough from Triumph dealer. I have seen a 1/2 inch thick strip of Teflon used on a dirt bike with great success so that might be an option also. In my neck of the woods, Fishing is the number 1 pastime so there are lots of boat supply places which use the Teflon for the runners on boat trailers and you can get any size and colour that you could imagine. Mate who used it on dirtbike reckoned it lubed his chain in the process of wearing down.
