Question '99 955i WON'T START

this is same symptoms as ROBCAMPBELLJR but my EFI relays all work in #7 position. When key was turned to on position temp needle swept to about 2:00 o'clock position and stayed there. No head or tail lights, no fuel pump, only oil, neutral and check engine lights come on. No starter or clicking noises indicate bad battery. This happened once on Good Friday and while checking fuses (all good and fuse block ok as well) noticed temp gauge needle had returned to home position. Tried to start and she ran fine. Had 2 more rides that weekend then she did the same Easter Sunday, only thing only this time the needle will not return to home position. Battery checks ok, have continuity through to fuel pump and cooling fan relay positions when key is off. When key turned on however have power to both sides (front and rear) of relay sockets. This seems to be strange. Because temp gauge seems to be connected somehow I am going to buy a new temp sensor and install. Hoping for the best!! Any ideas out there? ROBCAMPBELLJR talked about relays, I replaced all 3 EFI relays already to no avail. My girl has 140,000km and this is the first let down since new.

Alan, My '98 did much the same recently (minus the temp gauge issue) and it was the spade connectors for the 40 amp main power fuse. Replaced fuse and okay...cleaned the spade connectors on the old fuse and again okay. I think I'm going to have issues with that fuse location.
