*27, Well, it's not going to be near as nimble as what you've got, but the engine has quite a broad torque range so tap dancing the shifter won't be needed. Think of it as a cross between a RC51 and a 929.

Reliability wise there are no major issues. Battery should be kept well charged as the early EFI is a bit amp hungry. $3K is a good price, but be aware that valve clearances will need to be checked at 12K miles.

The only bad thing about buying it is that your other bike will just sit there and collect dust.

Thanks Brad, in term sof the 12k Valve Clearance service, what do you estimate? I have two seemingly decent Triumph dealerships here is SD. Any other issues to look for? Thanks again!

#27, The 12K, and every 12K thereafter, service is the big one. The important item though is the valve adjustment and for just that $200-250ish. Comparing service costs with the RC51, it's in the same range.

By '99 Triumph had taken care of the teething problems of first year '97s and early '98s plus redesigned the exhaust for more RHS clearance and advanced the exhaust cam five degrees. Again, I can't think of any nesting problems.

All of the input above is great.
Keep looking though. You can find a good deals on Daytona's. Just be patient. I bought my 98 Daytona with 8k miles that was showroom clean for $3k + shipping ($500). My buddy got a showroom clean 2003 955i with Power Commander, New Pilot Powers TOR Carbon Fiber exhaust, Pazzo Levers etc. for $4500.
The one you are looking at looks like it must have been down at some point with the body work being painted etc.
