I'm not really into wheelies, although I guess I could be. Been more interested in bettering my overall sport riding skills, but I was going down the highway the other day and there was an R1 going around 75 and the rider woudl periodically lift up the front and go on one wheel for a bit. It was pretty cool looking, but as there was an 18 wheeler riding right on his butt, I thought it was a bit stupid as any mistake would surely be his last. Got me thinking though about how solidly set the Daytona seems to be. I would think it posesses plenty of power to wheelie, but I can think of only once, in an act of self preservation, that I ever lifted the front off the ground. Is the Daytona not a "wheelie machine"?

OK, I'll hate myself for asking this, but what is your technique? From a start? In a certain gear? In a certain rpm band?

How to Wheelie dot com

There's a link to a wheelie school in Lakeland, FL where they use Triumph speed triples.

Near you??

Hey BAFB, did you just join this forum today to talk down your superior nose to me? Must have been compelling. Actually I've been riding motorcycles for many years and have had bikes faster and more powerful than my Daytona, but this is my first sport bike and my thoughts about doing wheelies never piqued until I saw that guy on the R1. I frequently pour the coals to my bike, but it is always well planted, which is a good thing. On street bikes and dirt bikes I've had, wheelies just sort of came naturally, but it seems like you must really have to try on this bike. The school using S3s is almost like cheating - it's more work keeping the front wheel down on an S3. I'm more curious than anything, and if your concern was sincere then, well, thanks.

Luke,

wheeleies are a lot easier on a triple no doubt in my mind seeing that I just sold mine to get my Daytona. I am finding that The Daytona wheelies very easy and it is just needing to feel it out. Every one has there own "style" of wheelies and you will find your own in time.

What I would suggest it like what other have said only I will say go a little faster like 35ish or around 5,000 to 6,000 rpm in first gear back of the throttel for just a split second and the hammer back on it while pulling up on the bars, and it should come right up.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RIGHT FOOT OVER THE REAR BRAKE IN CASE THE BIKE COMES UP TOO FAST OR GETS TO HIGH!!!! Press the rear brake will help you from going over.

hope this helps and it will come in time,

Mike
