Vent/Vacuum/Coolant Return Hose routing on 2000 955 Daytona?
Hello again all, cheers and thanks for your past input and future support. Just to 'level set' your communal understanding of my issues, I'm putting a 2000 Daytona back together....purchased it last autumn partially dissembled with a large box of miscellaneous parts/fasteners and am nearly complete. I have replaced the 2000 Daytona engine with a 1999 Speed Triple motor in excellent low-mileage condition and will rebuild the Daytona engine and swap back in in the autumn. For the time being, however, I am struggling to understand all the various vent house routing....I think that it may be a question for DEcosse or one of the other extremely senior members since I have exhaustively referenced my Service Manual and can't quite find the info I need.
Basically, the only vent house routing info I can find in the manual is in the Fuel Management section as it refers to the IACV and tank venting. However, I cannot locate any reference to what appears to be a crankcase vent hose running out the 'back' (swingarm facing) side of the left hand engine case cover, kind of below the water pump. It runs backward and then sort of curves up and into the center of the frame but there is no apparent connect to route it to???? Also, I would appreciate clarification on A) routing of the tank vent hoses (I don't seem to have a roll over valve in the box 'o stuff that came with the bike) and also the hose for the fuel pressure regulator???
Finally, it looks as though the coolant 'overflow' house runs to the low side of the overflow tank per the Service Manual....does the hose on the 'high' side of the overflow tank just hank down through the frame near the swingarm pivot or should it also terminate somewhere?
Sorry for all the questions but the Service Manual is certainly less than useful in identifying how to reassemble a basketcase, lol. Again, thanks in advance for all your responses and assistance!
Matt

Hi Matt,
I've just pulled my T595 engine out of the frame so might be able to help you. I've owned this machine from new and it has not been modified at all so it should be as factory fitted.
The crankcase vent on the left hand side of the motor, is connected to the airbox. There is a spigot on the underside of the airbox, right beside the left hand (number 1) throttle body connector. The routing should be self evident once you have the correct hose in hand...
My fuel tank vent hoses simply ran beside the tank and frame, down to the normal vent area infront of the swing arm pivot. No roll over stuff on my '97 T595, I dont think this feature was added till much later in the run of models. The fuel pressure reg hose runs to the same spot by the swing arm pivot, as well as the over flow from the coolant reservior.
Hope this helps.
Roger

#@$(*&^%$@%$@#! Service Manual
Roger - thanks a ton for clarifying the routing of the hoses on these bikes.....I am stunned by the fact that the (very expensive) Triumph Service Manual makes no reference or diagram of the routing of any hoses with the exception of the IACV hose routing around the throttle bodies - didn't have to worry about this since mine is a 'later model' bike (VIN - 091867) and the IACV is a single integrated unit that sort of plugs into the base of the airbox. In any event, the info on the roll over valve was also helpful. Thanks again!
Can anyone clarify the routing of the 'high side' coolant overflow tank hose (high side, toward rear of bike)....does it also just run down ahead of the swingarm pivot? Much appreciated!
Matt

Matt, The lower/forward overflow tank hose runs along the LHS of the subframe, up alongside the airbox to the nipple on the filler cap. The upper/rear hose runs along the LHS of the subframe towards the sidestand and points to the ground.

Thanks again!
Brad - thanks for clarifying routing on the coolant lines...in laying out the components, I had deduced that the 'lower' overflow tank hose would run to the nipple on the thermostat housing (gotta make sure it is below the coolant level in order to maintain vacuum in the system and avoid air bubbles) but just couldn't tell about specific routing for the 'upper' hose. Thanks again to both of you for your insights and guidance....I'm about 2 weeks from done on assembling the bike (due to a tight work schedule and little free time) but will post a pic of the complete machine once up and going!
:-)

Hi all,
I'm in a similar scenario where I'm not sure where the fuel hoses are supposed to be connected. I just want to verify from this thread that both hoses on the left side of the tank run along the frame? They don't connect to anything and just point to the ground?
My bike is a 2002 955i. It doesn't have any canister or anything(such as the California models the manual specifies.
Also, I was wondering about the left hose on the air box. Does this run along the frame as well? Thank you.

neomaximus, While it really dosen't matter, the lower fitting goes to the RHS (brake) and the upper to the LHS (shifter).

Ok, I want to get this right, or at least not do anything that's going to cause me trouble.
Here's a couple images with illustration to make sure placement of these hoses is ok.
Thanks for your help.

edit: Please tell me if I'm wrong, lol.

neomaximus, In the top picture, those are the fuel tank drain (L) and fuel tank vent (R), not the fuel lines to the fuel injectors which I described earlier. The vent hose may, or may not be connected to a roll over valve.
The bottom picture's labeling is correct. Any reason the battery hold down strap is unconnected?

Brad,
I know they're not for the injectors, thanks.
The battery strap is off because I had taken the battery out before. The bike has been sitting for a year while I've been working on it (yes, I've been lazy).. and that makes me feel bad.
I don't think I have a rollover valve, but if I did, where would it be?
Thanks Brad,
Neomaximus.
