Sidestand bracket seepage again 02 Daytona

After sealing up the sidestand bolts last year due to an oil leak, it started leaking again. I hate leaks near tires!

I first used teflon tape but that did not last. I then used black permatex and it was great for a few thousand miles. I noticed a few more drops on the floor after recent rides so I removed the entire sidestand assembly (not just one bolt at a time like before), and discovered that the sidestand switch plate that is sandwiched between the ss bracket and motor was soaked in oil. The bolt hole surfaces on the motor have a rough finish and Triumph put no sealer between them.

This time I put a nice bead of red RTV on all the mating surfaces and all is well and should stay that way forever.

I would check yours...

Well, they put no sealer in there, because there should be no reason to - that should not require a sealed joint and its only because of the crappy cases that it is occurring to begin with.
So the RTV is a band-aid (a good one!) literally! to prevent the oil making it out to the outside world.
But we shouldn't be slamming them for not sealing this joint, the slam should be on oil getting out those holes to begin with!

It's unbelieveable this should even be a problem!
We know that it does happen - but it's quite ridiculous.

In my case, mine leaks through one of the sprocket cover holes. Took me forever to find it!
