I recently purchased a 1998 Daytona with 450 miles, all factory original. I happened to be in a Triumph dealership and found a slightly used Triumph factory carbon fiber exhaust. Can I simply replace the OEM exhaust with the carbon fiber exhaust without any other alterations (e.g. ignition or fuel injection modifications)?

It is fuel injected, right?

Look at this link to see what tune code to use:

Triumph typically has a different map for different pipes. If the can you are looking at calls itself a "racing" can, then use the aftermarket tune codes. A dealer can load the tunes and reset the CO to match. It should cost you no more than a half hour of shop time.

thanks.....

I don't see Triumph calling it a racing can, only a carbon fibre silencer. But it is low mount like the OEM just with a carbon fiber body.

I'm pretty sure I have the same can on my 2000 Daytona. It's the low mount carbon race can. I chose the low can so that I could still carry a soft set of luggage once o twice a year for the longer trips.

The baffles are opened up a little, and you'll get a little louder/lower growl than stock. It's no barker like the high can, since it's quite a bit longer, and therefore has a larger sound baffle.

Since it's less restrictive than stock, you will need to have your fuel injection re-mapped. An easy task, takes just a few minutes at the dealership.

If you want to be sure, look at the underside of the pipe, near where it connects to the headers, it should say "NOT FOR ROAD USE" , or somthing to that efftect. It also rambles on about some EPA restrictions, blah, blah, blah.
