Throttle Problem

Hi, i have a 02 955i dssa daytona and am trying to replace the throttle grip and nylon sleeve to which the cables connect in to. Have ordered two so far from my local triumph dealer and both times although the parts look the same the end on which the cables rotate round inside the housing is bigger and its fouling and making the throttle action stiff. Has anyone just replaced the grip or do i have to order new cables and metal housing assembly as my dealer is now stuck and says it should fit, and advice greatly recieved.

Are you sure you got the correct throttle tube from the dealer? The inner diameter on the housing for the 955 is actually quite small so if you get the wrong throttle tube, you'll have problems with a stiff throttle.

On my 955 CE, I moved to a 1050 throttle tube because of the larger diameter cam, but had to get a housing from a 675 to make it all fit.

Dealer is saying the part they have supplied is the only one listed for a 02 955i so i am pretty much stuck. Guess all i can do is order up new cables and housing and take it from there. The tube they have supplied fouls the bottom of the cable sheafs when clamped in the housing leading to a stiff throttle due to its bigger cam but they are saying triumph have superseded my orignal tube with this one, part no T2040331, its never easy.

I replaced the throttle on my 02 with a Euroracing kit and have my original throttle if you want to try that one. It is at my ex-Wifes house, so it will cost you :-)

It is complete with cables, housing, etc...no grip though.

Shoot me a PM if you want it.

New Cables, grip, and housing and the daytonas back with a throttle action just like new, well after plugs, oil, air filter, and new fuel tank couplings as well, thanks to all who tried to help.
