Was going to buy a sprint ST but really like the look of 2005/6 Daytona, which one...

Depends what sort of riding you want to do.Both are great bikes but the Tona is more sport than the sprint with a more forward riding position .
different power delivery between them also with the daytona taking a bit to get going but once over 4,000 rpm it takes off.
Sprint has flat linear torque all through the range pulling hard from 2000 all the way to redline.
Get one of each

Thats what i did.
Take both for a test ride if you can and compare the two.

Test rode both back to back preferred the Sprint st 1050 myself so comfortable and easy to ride

I had 3" bar risers on my daytona and when I rode a Sprint I though the riding position was very close. So that may be a option if you want the look of the daytona but the comfort of the Sprint.

A bit like Nev I own an '04 Daytona 955 and also an '04 Sprint ST (there is minimal power diff between the 955 and the stroked 1050).

The Daytona is definitely more the full sports bike with fully adjustable suspenders and the forward riding position as Nev says.

The 'Tona wants to be ridden hard to get a rewarding ride, and it is very satisfying to ride fast on a mountain road.
The Sprint is much more general purpose and is actually an excellent all rounder with a more linera but less of it power delivery and torque everywhere.

The Sprint is easier to ride but the Daytona is far more capable in the hills.

As stated it depends what sort of riding you do.

I've been told the Daytona is a much beter handling bike and the sprint is a bit mushy in the corners?

Wrong unless the Sprint is not set up properly.

Please click on my members album below for tyre porn showing my front tyres on the Sprint. This Sprint has had the rear shock rebuilt at a cost of $172.00 AUD and only mod to the fork is 15wt fork oil.

Both bikes handle it is just that the Daytona is a real sports bike and weighs over 20 kilos less and that coupled with better suspension, aggressive riding position and steering geometry make it handle better.

But any one that says a Sprint can't handle has not set it up properly that is just plain not true.

The pics in my album with the blue front guard are the Sprint & the Red the Daytona.

Please look at those then tell me a Sprint does not handle well.

Depends on how much highway riding, the Daytona offers alot better wind protection, the around town gearing of the Daytona is not crash hot.

It really does depend on the riding you do. I did have a few friends with 2002-2004 Sprints that when they had the suspension set up they handled pretty well (Bags off of course). I think at this point in my life I would take the Sprint over my Tona. More due to the riding position and the bags. I seem to be doing more and more long rides.

I bought the Tona back in 2002 because it was the more comfortable sport bike of the 3 different bikes I tested. The other 2 were a Ducati 998 and an Aprilia RSV1000. The power was less, but to me it was one of the most comfortable sport bikes out there. I can still move along at a good clip in the curves too
