Hello all,

Happy to report that I'm loving the 96 Daytona 1200 I bought in the spring of 04. I was hoping some of you might have brake pad and tire suggestions for me. Everything on the bike is stock and I believe the tires are the original Bridgestones. Thanks, Mike

I'm glad you are enjoying your 1200.

I have been replacing my brake pads with EBC pads and have been satisfied with the life & performance.

As for tires, I have tried MEZ4s, BT010s, and BT020s. I currently have the BT020s installed and they perform well. The BT010s were more confidence inspiring but did not last. I got about 5000 miles from them before they were bald.
I didn't care for the MEZ4s when they were nearing the end of their life they became hard and slippery. I nearly dropped the Super III in a corner when the bike slipped out from under me. Those who know me will understand that I am not a very aggressive rider, aggressive, yes, very aggressive, no. So, for them to slide around as much as they did was enough to replace them immediately.

Thank you!

My Super III brings me a lot of pleasure. My wife complains about the money I spend on it but she has her shoes so we're even.. :-D

I'm looking for history of the motor, horsepower figures, production numbers. Also wondering if after '99 they still sold the 1200's in England or discontinued everywhere?

The engine was rated buy Triumph at 147HP at the crank. Those that have dynoed them rarely see much over 120HP at the wheel.

I have never seen production numbers on anything but the specials.

The only model produced after the 1998SE with a 1200cc engine was the Trophy.

Thanks for the info. I just bought my Triumph last weekend and rode it 600 miles home. It was love at first sight and riding it is like driving a fine Italian sports car. It has made me realize how under-engineered my Harleys are. Thanks for a great site!

Where are you located in Iowa? I have reletives in the Quad Cities and take the bikes from time to time. If you are close I can call you next time I am out there and either we can ride or I'll buy you a beer at the Bent River Brewery.
