Thunderbird First Ride

I am not a cruiser person but as I did not get a chance to test it when the official testfleet visited Canberra the local dealer gave me the chance to try it today. I must admit I was well impressed with it - especially in 3rd and 4th! but the ability to just cruise was great. For me the key criticisms are the silly arrangement with the limp headlight (it may work well) it just looks naff, small and weedy. Given I was riding through constantly changing speed limits I found the location of the speedo etc just darn useless quite frankly. Don't most of you owners find it a real pain? - classic case of form over function. Lovely motor and torque though.

I took a ride last week, with the triumph demo team. this was my first "cruiser" after many years riding feet down vice forward. I enjoyed the Tbird responsiveness, its torque and the sound. but I am not a feet forward guy. I agree, the speedo was in the wrong place. I'd like to see a 1600cc roadster....with feet down straight back seating..

no cruiser for me.

personally, I like the headlight - it's one of my favorite features.

The speedo is a pain, but you get used to it, it also keeps the lines on the front of the bike clean.

Well I never got the complaints on the speedo, till I wore a full face helmet. It is hard to read there. However, after you get used to where it is and how the bike feels at speed I find I rarely use the speedo at all. I like it where it is, though I wouldn't mind a single pod instrument mount either.

As for the headlight, well, you're mad. That is dead sexy.
