Headlight swap

Hi All,
anyone done a headlight swap out to something more longated?

I feel the headlight is too 'stumpy' for the bike. I did this with my sporty project a couple of years ago (didn't like this bike at all but it was a fun project with my boys) and it change the look dramatically

I'm thinking (got till Feb next year before my bike is here) that the Bird would look good with a swap out.

What are your thoughts

Cheers
Poddy

I briefly toyed with the idea of putting a more "stumpy" light on mine. My mechanic told me it was possible but would preclude the installation of a windscreen and running lights (not an issue for me because I'm not going to install either).

But the more I've had a chance to look at the stock light, the more I like it. I'm keeping the way it is..

If you look in the photo section at the top of the main page of this section, you will see some photoshop images that Birdy68 has done. Some include different lights (none more elongated). I particularly like the two headlight configuration he crafted.

Btw - nice looking set-up on your HD!

Thanks Mate,
I rebuilt it from the ground up (so to speak) first changed the Heads to Buell Thunders,Andrews cams, then did the brakes (F&R stainless lines), did the shockers (Hagons R & Pregressive F),MME880 tires, then the carb, heavy breather, TC88 etc, Hooker pipes and then the "Bling thing".

For a H-D it handles quite well, dyno'd at 96 on the rear (not that I trust dyno's- set-up etc makes a big factor) Only thing that hit it in guts was the pipes, sounded great but you had no lean AT ALL!!!! But it gave it the look.

Once I had it finished I was approached within 3 days of completion & sold it for a handsome return (only bike I made money on) Funny thing was the guy who bought it was keen on a $30 pic of chrome on the Carb, couldn't careless about all the real work.

Haven't had a cruzer since but really looking forward to the Bird, todays ride was the bug and stock it handled better than any H-D I have ridden (Poor mates only ride H-D)

Cheers

Given the content and tone of you note, you will really LOVE the TBird. Someone had written just yesterday (can't remember who, just now) about how this bike seems to be a perfect mix of cruiser and sport bike and I thought he was spot on in that assessment.

HI Poddy,

I think the bird would look nice with a more elongated headlight.

Based on the bike pictured above I suspect you'll be showing us some nice TBird mods in the future.

Been thinking about doing that myself, just haven't found what I am looking for yet. I think the factory light is a little stubby as well and believe an elongated lamp with really look cool on the bike.
