Hello, everyone, I'm looking for some help. I have a 2004 Triumph America with no spark. I went for a little ride a couple months ago, parked the bike in the driveway and let it idle for a few minutes, I turned the key off and it backfired or made a pop when it shut down. I've had no spark since then. I've put a new Procom CDI on it, a new pickup sensor and 2 new nology coils. I have checked all the fuses and all of the wiring connections. everything checks out good. I'm open for any suggestions...

Yes, I have power to the coils, I checked the side stand switch, the neutral safety switch. I checked the continuity from the pickup sensor plug to the CDI plug. all of the fuses checked, all the connections checked. I did find a 3 leg fuse taped to the wiring harness that has 3 black and white wires going to it. one wire goes to the CDI plug and I have continuity to that wire but I don't know where the other 2 black and white wires go. I also don't know if this 3 leg fuse is any good. I'm losing this battle i think...

Since you have fire to the primary(12volt) side of the coils you can discount problems with the sidestand or neutral switch curcuits, the kill switch, and the ignition switch. Replacing the relays under the tank is a waste of time since they have nothing to do with the engine running. The next thing I would do is check the high voltage side of the ignition. Remove a spark plug wire, install something like a screwdriver on the end of the plug wire and see if you get a spark when you crank it over, by holding the wire close to the cylinder head. Be careful not to "zap" yourself. If you have spark there when you crank it over, replace the spark plugs. If you do not have spark there, and you still have 12volt current going to the primary side of the coils, I would say the problem is somewhere in the pickup or ignition module or related wiring. I hope this helps. ...J.D.

Thanks for the help guys, I have replaced the pickup coil sensor and checked it by cranking the motor over, it is working. I also replaced the CDI "ignition module" with a procom it didn't help so i thought it was faulty and sent it back. I now have a fire starter CDI "ignition module" and still no spark. I have tried the screwdriver trick and still no spark. My question now is, does anyone know what the 3 leg fuse is that was taped to the wiring harness under the tank. 3 wires going into the fuse and all 3 of them are black and white. 1 of the three wires runs into the CDI ignition module.

sanckenil... I don't know who twin tech is. Are they on this site?

I found the problem, after going thru every wire on the bike I removed the side case again to check the pickup sensor. There I found were you run the sensor wires thru the bracket it cut the insulation on the wire and was creating a ground. I removed the bracket to find out the edges of the bracket are razor sharp. I filed and rounded the edges of the bracket and ordered a new pickup sensor. I probably could use this sensor because the wire isn't broken but I'm not taking any chances.

I would like to thank all of you for your help!!!
