Just got back from the first ride after fitting a 19 tooth front sprocket on my 13 America, I think this is the best mod so far, the bike still pulls off the line really well and ringing her out through the gears is a lot more fun. Will have to watch the speedo a bit more so I don't lose the brief. Cruising on the highway at 110 K's she's just purring, the long T.O.R.S are singing at 80K's in second and 95K's in third, just love this bike.Other mod's are A.I.removed,Oxygen sensors removed,K/N air filter Icon shockers and progressive fork springs.Cheers Eric

If your bike is after vin number 435933 note that the speedo is no longer driven mechanically from the front wheel. It's electronic and operated by a sensor that measures output shaft rotation speed. As that speed is now changed by the new sprocket your speedo readings will be inaccurate (lower than normal).

It can be re-calibrated using triumph's diagnostic tool or software such as TuneECU.

Thanks for that Forchetto I was wondering which way the speedo would be out ,with all the speed cameras over here this could be a blessing.I've done the A.I. mod and the oxygen sensor mod using resistors so don't have tuneECU how long a life do the Resistors have??Cheers Eric.

Well, AussieTrump- going +1 on the front (or, -2 on the rear) has always been my secret for making 5th a true 'overdrive' gear, and, invariably, it makes the lower gears longer, and, more fun to boot!

Because the 865cc motor with the 270 degree firing order makes more torque in the midrange- the improvements with the +1 set up are VERY noticeable. Also, in the past, 4th has become a great back road gear with a pillion on board. Just get there- and, never a need to shift, regardless of turn angles or straights- you can just stay in 4th- the whole time!

Also, first will take you through the largest intersections without complaint- or a need to shift. It makes a flexible motor even more flexible, and, it always seems to fit the bikes overall gearing well.

Finally, I think the last +1 gear I purchased cost $15.22 + $1.98 in shipping- so, cheap & effective it is. However, I don't have an impact driver (yet), so, I have to pay a shop to do it-bummer.

Thanks for the reminder- where did you get yours-and, how much was it? (If you don't mind my asking, that is?)

Chain stays the same, Plenty of slack available. I had to upgrade the clutch springs to Barnett Green as i had a slippage issue, that was there before upgrading to the 19T front. Well worth it, Clutch is a little heavier to pull in but never slips now.

Has anyone else needed to upgrade the clutch springs?I'm thinking of going to a 19T front when I get back to Australia. It's cheap enough to swap between the 18t and 19t and feel the difference .The tendoins in my hands are crap so I don't want much heavier of a clutch to pull if I can help it.

Reading your post properly Steve I see you upgraded the clutch BEFORE the 19T sprocket:Dang I'm losing my marbles.
