Windshield mounting brackets

Okay, so after reading several threads about windscreens, I decided to order a Clearview screen. I also ordered the mounting kit online. After I installed the mounting kit, I noticed that the mounting brackets (the ones that connect the screen to the mounting kit) weren't there. I double-checked the instructions for the kit and it said nothing about these brackets, so I figured they weren't supposed to come with the kit. I then called Clearview, and was told that Triumph doesn't sell the brackets without selling you the whole screen. My dealer is, of course, closed for the day, so I can't call them (I'll do this tomorrow), but I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem and how did you fix it? I don't want to have to return the screen to Clearview just to pay way more than I want for a screen that is inferior to the one I already have. Is there a way to get just the brackets?

I found this on ebay. I'd bid on it and see what happens. I've only seen the brackets/windshield offered as a pair. Nothing ventured, nothing gained:

So I called the dealership. There is no kit you can buy for this, and each part has to be purchased individually. I can't bring myself to actually type the unholy amount I was quoted, but a guy named Fred Sanford once asked the same question, and this was his reaction to the quoted price:

Looks like I'm not coming out on top on this one. Either I compromise, or I pay A LOT just to get what I want.

I can cruise at an idicated 120 mph and sit tall in sadle and love it ! I do it rather often, and am basically hanging on to bars and yes, bugs can hurt, but the fun out weights that aspec !

My previous bike had a shield, and I liked it. Just a matter of preference.

Cruz, so far your idea has been the best of all that I've seen. I put a bid in, and if I can get it at the right price, I can still top the price of a new Triumph screen. Way more than I initially wanted to pay, but it's the best option so far. Plus, I can try to sell the summer screen without the brackets and see if I can recoup some cost.

Update: Got the screen from ebay. Thanks, cruznut. Managed to pay less for both than a new Triumph screen, but not by much. Guess I learned an expensive lesson.
