Hi

I am expecting my bike end of this week, but I have a question that I could not see has been asked before.

I want to know if I can use a seat for a pre 2011 SM on my new SM EFI ?
The reason is that a Solo Gel seat and all the extras that go with it are available for the pre but not the post.
So im gussing the mountings have changed.

I have seen the thread about some after market seats, but id like to see if I can use a Triumph Solo first.

I am still trying to track this down myself. I was exchanging emails with BikeBandit and their website indicates the following Triumph Solo Seat does fit the 2012:

I haven't bought it yet, but may consider after I do a bit more investigation.

My new SM arrives this week and I too want to change to the solo seat. I bought the pre 2011 solo seat and will fixing it on as soon as I get the bike (later this week). Made a similar post a couple of weeks ago and promised to keep everyone updated.

My dealer today confimed the "Finisher" to replace the back pegs will not fit.
Thats a pity as I thought they looked very good.

The dealer will tomorrow compare the seats as they have an Older model with the Solo seat on to my New bike.
They want to sell me a new seat, so its in their interest.
So with any luck we will know soon, but my dealer will not advise of any mods that would make it fit, just if its a direct swap.

SO

My dealer removed my new Speedmaster seat and offered up the solo seat and chrome surround etc.

The new speedmaster has a catch under the seat that prevents the solo seat from going on.
The catch is held in by one bolt.
This was removed and the Solo seat FITS.

The finisher for the peg will not fit, so for this I may get a custom plate made and chromed.

So now.
I am getting a new 2012 SM with a solo seat from a pre 2011 range delivered from a triumph dealer.

Ill then have the normal seat and catch as a spare.

I hope this helps others.
