2002 america question.

what is the differences between 2002 and and more recent models of the america?
Is 21,000 miles alot for this year and model?
I did do some internet surfing and the only real difference that is obvious to me is the engine being 790cc as opposed to 865cc in newer models.Does this mean that the 790cc engine had some issues? Is there something I need to be aware of?

The older ones - not sure which year it starts -- but the newer ones and the 856's are fuel injected and the older ones as yours ( and my 04 SM are carb models ).

In my humble opinion 21,000 miles isn't even broken in good - my SM had 10,500 when I bought it 2 years ago - in the 2 years I've owned it - I know have 28,000 and it runs better and smoother now than it did when I got it !

Ill break it down for you.
2002-2006 america's 790cc
2007-2008 americas 865cc
2009-onward 865cc fuel injection.

Gas tank changed in 2008 to a larger 5.1 gallon tank.
Rims used to be spoked that changed around 05 or 06.
The 790cc engines have no problems and better cams.

Sam, I have the 865cc engine, but have ridden with a number of guys who have the 790 engine and their bikes run fine. Actually you have better cams than stock 856's. Change oil and filter according to your owners manual, keep your tire pressure where it should be, keep your valves adjusted and adjust your chain when it begins to get slack. Otherwise you should be good to go for many more miles
