Will a topbox look silly on an America...
From a practical point of view a topbox would be great. The America has no helmet lock nor would I want to use one having just brought a very expensive Shoei helmet which I want to keep good for some while. Anyone use a topbox here?
Seems to me that it might look out of place on a cruiser and I don't know anyone who has one.
Alan

I just installed a Givi E55 Maxia 3 Monokey Top case, basic model on my 2010 America.
I was worried that it would be to big and look strange, but to me it looks to be just the right size for the bike and I think it looks great.
You'll also need a Givi E250 Monokey Top case Universal Adapter Plate.
I installed a Triumph luggage rack, #A9738028, but pretty much any similar rack that fits the bike can be used.
It is very practical. I am able to put my Nolan N85 full face helmet, Joe Rocket Reactor jacket, gloves and sunglasses in it with no problem.
I'm very happy with it's functionality and think it compliments the bike's looks.
Good luck.

Personally, I think a top box looks wrong on any bike, more so a cruiser. But I appreciate that's just my opinion and not everyone will agree.
When I need to leave the helmet I just carry a small curly cable lock, and secure it to the bars.

IMHO I think it would!
My Vespa has a top box and it looks ok,
but saddle bags would look silly on it.

I have a small tail bag on the rack behind the passenger backrest and it looks pretty good. Imho my brother has a v-strom with just a hard top box and I think it looks kinda goofy. Maybe with full bags it would look ok. I understand the necessity completely but I just don't like it alone.

Mine has a top box, sometimes I look at the America and have to take it off but it always ends up going back on sooner or later as it's so practical. two full face helmets fit, or a hell of a lot of shopping, I can even get the biggest Pizzaman pizza it! (good if the bikes your only transport).
P.s: I got mine from Matlock for about £50.
Ben.

I'm afraid to sat I don't think it would flatter the cureves of the America, but I completely understand where you are coming from in terms of practicality.

I used to have a top box on a previous cruiser along with hard bags. The top box doesn't look as "out there" with the bags so I'd go for both. Get them in a dark colour too.
I'd never put a top box (or hard bags either, probably) on a Speedmaster.

I know it looks uncool, but I use a top box on my current VLX to make runs to the supermarket at least twice a week. Since my 4-wheeler is a 5.7L Hemi Challenger, I installed the box on the Honda in order to save gas money and avoid door dings in the parking lot.
The Bestem Top Box I bought cost about $62 with shipping on ebay, and I couldn't be happier with its quality or its functionality. It has, for example, a quick release button that allows you to remove it and carry it like a small suitcase, yet it's large enough to hold several items including a gallon of milk.
I intend to buy a second mounting bracket from Bestem to install on my '11 SM eventually.
