mc is a 2005 speedmaster, no starting issues ever.
Started first time as usual this morning.
60km later fuel stop and first time start.
70km later after stopping to take in a view, nothing....
Push starts o.k.
indicators work, tail light works, brake lights work, horn works, HEADLIGHT does not work!!!
No sound on attempting to start, no clicking, no whirring.
I have the Haynes and Triumph manuals and will start exploring possible issues but was hoping someone may be able to give me a process to follow or may even have had the same issue and could therefore save me a huge learning curve.
If you have signals and tail/brake lights, then I doubt the battery is dead-dead.
You could have enough power to light the lamps but not enough to engage the starter/solenoid, however, the lack of headlight throws me. If you have enough power to light the other lights, then you should at least be getting dim glow from the headlight. Hmmmmm.
When you did get it started by push-starting, did the headlight work as usual? Does it start with a jump-start?
I'd look at the usual suspects first, voltage across battery, voltage when bike is running, connections, & grounds. I can't help but think that there's a short somewhere in the switch/headlight/wiring harness, but I don't have a schematic handy to see what's related in there. Does any of the wiring look like it's cut/rubbed-thru/pinched/etc?
I had a similar problem a few months back even after charging the battery it would not start . In desperation changed the battery no problems since and spins over fast when starting.
It wasn't the headlight globe, which I have replaced. It was a dud fuse box.
A big crack has appeared and the fuse box is basically in 2 parts. Problem solved. Thanks again for advice given.

Sorry, got here too late.
Just an FYI for future venturers of this forum.
If the headlight fuse is blown or removed, your bike will not start.
