Thumbs up K Drive saddlebags

I have been looking at the K drive saddlebags and mounts for my 06 speedy. They are $479 at New Speedmaster.com. Does anyone have any advice about these bags? Are they worth the money and is the quality as good as it looks on the web site? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Had the Triumph slanted bags. Didn't know any better at the time, but the barely held enough for my daily commute and I quickly out grew them.

Have the K-Drive bags now. Love 'em. Roomy enough for a weekend trip for me and the whiff, plus the fact that they snap on and off the brackets means that a) no more scratching up my rear fender, 2) packing for a trip is a breeze, and d) washing the bike/chain lubes/tire inflation is all made easier.

I had K-Drive bags on my V-Star 650 for four years and 36,000 km. They held up well. Having the bags easily lockable and removable is an excellent feature. Don't use the handles to carry the bags or they could pull out. They did leak a little, but not too bad for a soft bag. They were also light weight, and held 22 lbs (10 Kg) each. I found that the bottom plastic rest that holds the bag onto the frame was starting to wear after that much mileage though. I expect that you could get replacement parts for them.

K-Drive has raised their price to the point that they are now out of the market in Canada. Not sure why they did this. I paid $649 CDN and they are now nearly $800 CDN. I now have Easy Brackets and Edge 102 saddlebags for less money, and am very pleased.

Leatherneck Jim's Badland bags

I purchased the easybrackets and a set of the Badlands bags for my 2007 America. They easily fit my leather jacket on one side and my half helmet in the other. The bags lock on the bike and can easily be removed. Cannot say enough good things about this purchase. Customer service could not have been better. Good luck in your search. www.leatherneckjims.com
