America/Speedie Workshop Manual

I need a workshop manual for my '09 America and thought I would get one off eBay -- probably on disk. I can only find manuals for models up to '08 and am wondering if this is because the '09 is EFI and manuals are not out yet. If this is the case, would the '08 manual be OK, except for the EFI coverage? Also, any recommendations on which is best?

Manual

LennyT, I have an 08 Bonneville (carbed) and 09 America (EFI). The $40 Haynes Bonneville, T100, SM, America, Thrux & Scram 01-07 is the only thing I found other than the big >$100 Triumph manual from the dealer. So far everything I have explored matched the book for both bikes. I prefer a book that I can hold next to the item I might be working on rather than tethered to a PC, just my preference.

The service manuals (pre and post EFI) are virtually the same except for the revised electrical diagrams and an additional chapter about EFI and diagnostics. Current manuals still have the carburettor chapter, they're not EFI-only.

Still on triumph service manuals, the first one I saw covered all the models: Bonneville, Scrambler, Thruxton, America, Speedmaster. Not anymore: mine only has speedmaster/america. I'm not bothered about it, but it may be relevant.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for 06 Speedy? I'm trying to install a non Triumph alarm and noticed there is a 12 pin plug but no idea what wire is what.

Speedmaster wiring diagram

Chuck,
The Haynes manual has a nice diagram for your bike. That will give you the info you need on a budget, not to mention stuff you'll need to know further down the line.

As for the factory manual, I recently got the one for my '06 (carb'ed) Speedmaster. It included sections regarding the EFI as well as the appropriate wiring diagrams.

Knowledge is power. Power to the people. Right on!
