Fuel Gauge

Has anyone come across a fuel gauge that can be used on the America or Speedmaster? Any help would be appreciated.

Wink

You have one. It's called an odometer, just reset it when you fuel up and look for gas around 240 K's.

...Or to us Yanks, about 130 to 135 miles.

I would suggest the odometer in conjunction with the petcock since riding conditions and style can make quite a difference from one tank to the next. Depending upon whether I've been riding mainly in the city or on the highway, cruising or doing high-speed runs, I've had to switch to the reserve anywhere between 200 and 230km. I know that I have a safe 30km after switching over without any risk of running dry so i know that I can get between 230 and 260km from a tank. However, on some tanks (very rarely) I might not make it to 240km if I just used the odometer (assuming that the petcock is just left in the reserve position all of the time).

Do most people just ride until they need to switch to reserve and then look for somewhere to fill up?

I use odometer and have not used reserve (except the first few times to establish how many miles work FOR ME). If on a trip (with others) we agree on how many miles between fillups. (And I've never seen a bike fuel gauge that was really worth a hoot. I don't even trust the wife's "low fuel" light on her H-D)
