EFI America with AI removal

Im just wondering how many people have a 09,10 EFI America or speedmaster and removed the AI. The reason im asking is its been about a year since these bikes have been out and Ive tried bike with AI in and AI out, with TORs, without TORs, with K&N filter and stock filter and remapped for TORs and then back to stock map. I recently removed my AI for the second time and bike runs good with a little backfire on occaision but still feels like it can be improved. I was just wondering how long have people been without their AI on their efi bike and how is their bike running. The Triumph aftermarket map sucks and wish the dealer could tune bike correctly but I know that will never happen. They say backfiring and poppoing is all normal and live with it. I dont have the patience or money for tuneboy right now and just wondering how everyone else with efi is making out and what are their opinions about their AI removal. Mine seems alright with stock map but i have nothing to compare it to except if i put bike back to complete stock. I know its another AI thread but we should hear about updates on these mods to see what the long term effects are. Thanks.

I have 7500kms on my 09TA and 6500 without AI. I have no intention of going back to stock. To make her run nice without any backfiring or popping I found that I needed to get Tuneboy and remap with the O2 sensors turned off. I run a double entry air box with a K&N and stainture pipes. My throtle bodies were a little out of balance and using Tuneboy I was able to balance them, that also helped a little. My mate has a 09 Bonnie only with a K&N and staintune pipes and there is no comparison between the bikes. I have it all over him.
Cheers and ride safe.

I did my AI removal again this week to see how the bike ran. I rode about 30 miles and their was no decel popping and bike seemed to run good for the exception of the motor knocking a lot louder than with AI in. I dont know the long term effect of this and came to the realization that you have to have the bike tuned correctly if your going to put on aftermarket pipes with AI removal and high flow air filter. In previous posts, someone stated that they did this mod with stock map and that was ok but not the case. Maybe with his bike but ive learned that not all these bike react the same with this mod. I feel that my bike is running way too lean with stock map and triumph dealer states they only can download aftermarket pipes map for TORs with ran like garbage on my bike. They dont have any other tunes to download on my bike. Im thinking about trying that map again with AI reinstalled and oem filter reinstalled because the knocking may do damage in the future if bike is running too lean. I will have to either buy a tune boy or install a power commander in the future to complete these mods. Ive also heard that every bike takes to this mod diffrently, some say erratic idle, some say nasty throttle back fire and some say misfiring. I started this thread to see how people stand with this mod after about almost a year since this came about in these forums. This only applies to EFI bikes. I want to know how many people had to remap and what map they used with what pipes and what they experienced plus what type of air filter and the response of their idle speed and if they noticed a diffrence in any knocking or engine noise. Thanks.
