decent disc lock: new style brake discs
Hi everyone,
I was using a Motrax Vishas disc lock on my Virago, but it does not fit on the speedmaster.
This latest style of front brake discs does not have large enough holes for it.
So I was wondering - can anyone suggest a decent disc lock for these discs? Its pin must be smaller than 10mm...
Thanks in advance,
Pedro.

Try Kroptonite https://www.kryptonitelock.com/produ...=1003&pid=1153
Has a small pin (5mm) for America/Speedy bikes. Fits fine.

I had the exact same problem, I used a Motrax Vishas on my old bike which, as you know, doesn't fit the new un.
I went and got one of these, an Abus Detecto 7000 rs2
http://www.phoenixnw.co.uk/abus/abus...lock-rs2.html/
fits perfectly and it's alarmed, couldn't be easier to use as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's difficult sometimes to find this stuff as shops don't always mention the pin width...
Thanks again,
Pedro.

Worth looking at the xena disc lock alarms. They do show different pin sizes on their web site, they're very solid and come with a 120db alarm built in. The alarm is useful and will stop you riding off and forgetting to remove your lock first.

I second this. I have a xena alarm, and despite the occaisional headaches (the thing goes off at the drop of a hat, but that's good I guess) i have a lot of confidence in it.
One thing to consider is that you have to get the smaller pin for our speedy brake discs. The model I have with the smaller pin has the alarm "speaker" on the outside, and when it goes off accidentally all I have to do is place my hand over the speaker to effectively mute it.

Umm, surely this would be a bad thing and any wouldbe thief would be able to do same to mute the noise while doing what ever they do.
Just a thought.

yep. That was my point.
A professional thief would know how to handle this. But no amount of security can stop a professional thief anyway. At the end of the day, the alarm is better than not having one.

Yea, I wasn't intending to spend money on an alarm, but I may as well. I had a look at the Xena XX6 lock and it seems fine. But at £45......
Naturally I don't expect the disc lock alone to stop a thief set to take my bike.

Agreed.
BTW, does the Xena alarm cut out after a period of time after being triggered?
