Light Bar wiring changes

I have now installed the Triumph light bar and very pleased. I have installed the wiring as per instructions, ie the lights are operated via a switch on the side of the left hand lamp. It would be very easy to change the wiring by doubling the control wire from the high beam relay across to the spot lamp relay via the toggle switch, this would make the spots only come on with the high beam and cam be switched off via the toggle on the lamp if you wanted to. Has anybody tried this?

Do you want that as a solution?

My 06 America came with the accesory lights installed. Uses the switch on left lamp. While I might rather have a different location for the switch, I would not do so in a manner that ties them to operating with the high beam. I once thought to locate the switch or an additional switch to the console on tank. There are rubber/plastic plugs for adding such. I havent done anything with it yet. Actually having thoughts that the bike looks better without them and may remove. I haven't ridden much at night, yet.

I prefer to run mine on low &/or high beam per my preference.

Light Bar

How long did it take to install the bar? I am considering purchasing the Triumph bar and was wondering how difficult the installation was. I have a 2007 America. Thank you in advance for your response.

Irishrider, I don't have a clue myself as to how long it takes to install the accessory light bar as mine came already installed.

I put on the Triumph lightbar on my 2010 Speedmaster. The kit from Triumph is very complete with everything you will need to do the job.

The fuel tank needs to come off. A pain with the EFI models as there is no fuel shutoff, and the fuel does weep out of the fuel outlet. I had to make a plug with a small hose and a screw to plug it.

Anyway, the wiring harness with relay gets mounted on the frame above the engine, and the wire plug to connect to is neatly tucked away near the top of the carbs/throttle bodies. The instructions are very complete, and routing the harness towards the front is easy. Make sure you put the wires under the headlight above the mounting bracket... that part isn't in the instructions. Threading the wires through the lightbar wasn't that hard either.. I used a string line to help with that.

If you have a windshield, make sure the bolts are longer to accomodate the light bar, otherwise the bolts that come with the kit is good.

I relocated the signal lights underneath the spot lamps, and putting those extra wires through the lightbar was a little tight, but definitely do-able... just use single wires.. not a 2-wire.

I definitely like the light this kit produces. I highly recommend them.

Light bar was an easy project, wiring is the part that took time as you must decide how to feed it through the bar to each side, the instructions were clear and the color code is clear. The wires plug in under the console without any problems.

I also removed the signal lights from the handlebar and mounted the front signal lights under the light bar lights on each side with the bracket that came with the signal lights,,, so adding wire and threading the additional signal light wires through the light bar was extra tight but it just takes a bit of time and patience. It's best to put all the wires through at the same time by pulling it through with a coat hanger or similar wire. pay attention to the wire colors as the switch on the lt side has an additional wire.

Cover your front fender with a blanket or something so the activity with the project does'nt scratch everything up....hope this helps
