03 Speedmaster Wont Start

Hi, Cant start my 03 speedmaster now after not been run for 4 months due to work comitments then bad weather (was running fine) & wondered if anyone has a solution. Battery has been on optimate trickle charge but engine just turns & wont fire then drains battery till solonoid starts clicking. Today iv put fresh fuel & new tested plugs in but still not running.
Could the fuel line or carbs have a blockage from 4month old fuel sitting in there ? Havnt got a workshop manual yet but will order one off ebay tomorrow, im sure its probably something simple but what ?????????

I reckon 4 months is plenty of time for unleaded to go off. Air exposure (less petrol in the tank - more air exposure) tends to help deteriorating fuel as well.

Don't take my word for it, but I would check and clean the fuel lines, filters and carbs just after doing the battery (which you already did).

If you can, fill up the tank and add stabiliser if you plan to leave it sitting for more than 4 weeks.

Good luck. Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Pedro.

If you still have that tiny filter hidden in the 'T' junction between the carbs you can bet it's clogged with congealed residue. An easy test would be to drain the float bowls into a very large container with the petcock open to test the flow. Sluggish flow and you'll have to get in there and pull the filter and clean it. I ditched mine in favor of a inline filter I could easily get to.

+1 on what Oldroadie said. The filter between the carbs is a bit awkward to locate if you don't know about it.
See below.
