Unable to shift gears on my 2010 Speedy...

... because of my new Milwaukee Trooper motorcycle boots!

Imagine my chagrin when I jumped on my bike last night after receiving the boots from Amazon.com and realized the ******ned toe box is too round and chunky to fit under my shift lever. ARRRRRGH

I bought the boots to replace my old pair. The toe was not reinforced and the shift lever has collapsed the toe box. My toe knuckles are sore so I bought a new pair of boots and never thought that purpose-built footwear would have this issue. Wrong.

I'm going to try to adjust the lever and/or pull the Kuryakyn Isowings off and put the pegs back on and see if that doesn't help, but GD it. I feel like an idiot.

Just wanted to vent/share/warn my fellow America/Speedy riders.

I kind of know how you feel. I just bought boots from leatherup.com which are standard, non steel tip, square toe boots with a lug sole and almost couldnt get my foot out from between the peg and shifter and everytime I wanted to downshift I had to pull my boot out sideways and then reposition to the top of the shifter to down shift. Im hoping that when they break in a little and become softer that this will go away. One of the problems is that the lug sole is so high. Gave me a little scare today when I wanted to down shift fast but ill get used to it. I just wanted to vent a little too.

Thumbs up adjust the shifter

Sit on the bike and have someone adjust the toe shifter to accommodate for the thicknest of your boots. I had my dealer make my adjustment for me when I bought my Speedmaster. I wear the Icon field armor chukka boot.

There should be enough play in the adjustment to handle most any shoe.

There was just enough play in the adjustment to accomodate the boot as HZ said. Regrettably, in trying to tighten the IsoWing footrest to stop tilting up and down at the same time, I stripped the tightener bolt. One battle won, another lost. It's all in the fun of owning a motorcycle.

How exactly do you adjust the shifter to fit a larger boot? I saw a nut attached to the arm which goes to the gear box with some threading so I think you would tighten or loosen that nut but I want to ask first. Thanks.

Hey mac- you just have to loosen the two nuts at either end of the shift rod, then you can move the shift lever into the position you want. Easy peasy.
